Cal 1 Card updates on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

*****NOTICE OF TEMPORARY SERVICE RESTRICTIONS*****

As part of the University’s evolving effort to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), campus buildings have been locked and access permissions have been restricted.  Accordingly, in-person support services at the Cal 1 Card office (e.g. issuance of new or replacement Cal 1 Cards) will be available only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10AM – 2PM.

ATTENTION: Face coverings are required in all campus buildings. As is the case with all offices currently providing support services to students, employees, affiliates, and/or the general public, Cal 1 Card staff are required as part of our employment (and consistent with the requirements of corresponding city, county, and state orders) to deny entry to campus facilities and refuse service therein to individuals who are not wearing face coverings.

If you are in need of Cal 1 Card issuance, please complete the following steps as applicable.

  • Upload a photo
    ATTENTION: this only required if you have never previously been issued a Cal 1 Card; photos from previously issued Cal 1 Cards remain on file and can be used for the issuance of a replacement Cal 1 Card.

    • Visit our online Photo Submission Page
    • Log in using your CalNet ID and passphrase
    • Review the compliance requirements
    • Select “Upload Photo” at the bottom of the page
      • If you have a saved photo that is compliant, feel free to upload that file
      • If you do not have such a photo, find a solid white backdrop and take a selfie to upload
  • Make an appointment
    • Visit our online Flex Appointment Page to make an appointment.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions to select from available appointment time slots.
  • Confirm your appointment
    • Send an email to cal1card@berkeley.edu with the following information:
      • your name
      • student or employee ID number
      • if your Cal 1 Card was stolen, include the corresponding police report number or case number as well as the issuing entity (e.g. UCPD, BPD, etc.)
  • Pay the lost card replacement fee
    ATTENTION: this is only required if you are an eligible employee or affiliate needing to replace a lost Cal 1 Card; eligible students needing to replace a lost Cal 1 Card will be billed separately to their student billing account.

For all other Cal 1 Card support service requests (e.g. Cal 1 Card debit, online photo submission, etc.), please send an email to cal1card@berkeley.edu and make sure to include your name and ID number.

For Cal Dining Meal Plan and Flex Dollar inquiries, please send an email to dining@berkeley.edu.

For CalNet support service requests (e.g. CalNet ID creation, passphrase reset, etc.), please send an email to calnet@berkeley.edu and make sure to include your name, ID number, date of birth, home or personal phone number, and home or local zip code.
