Getting a Cal 1 Card
All current students, faculty, and staff are eligible to get a Cal 1 Card.
How do I get one?
It's easy. Just go to the Cal 1 Card office in Lower Sproul Plaza, open Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. You will need to present a government-issued identification card (such as a driver's license or passport), and make sure you know your student/employee ID number. Your first card is free.
What about my Class Pass?
All currently-enrolled students are also entitled to a Class Pass sticker, which lets you ride on any AC Transit bus and Campus Shuttle for free. Class Pass stickers are issued in the first couple weeks of each semester.
Please note that if you lose your Cal 1 Card, you will have to pay the current fee for the Class Pass in addition to the card replacement fee.
For cross-registered students
Issuance of Cal 1 Cards to Cross-Registered students is based on approval from the Office of the Registrar. All other procedures are the same.
For Visiting Scholars and Postdocs
Both visiting scholars and visiting student researchers who are registered with the Visiting Scholar and Postdoc Affairs (VSPA) Program are eligible to receive a Cal 1 Card. However, the VSPA Program must have received both the payment of the University Services Fee and a Patent Acknowledgement prior to the release of the Cal 1 Card. After the receipt of these two requirements, please note that there is a 72 hour waiting period. After the waiting period, go to the Cal 1 Card Office at 180 Cesar Chavez Center, located in Lower Sproul, to pick up your Cal 1 Card. The office is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Please be prepared to bring your ID number and present a current government issued photo identification card, e.g., driver’s license or passport.
